Mission 2018

Dear friends

If you’ve been following my story either through my blogs or on LinkedIn you’ll know that last year I decided to take a break from a life in corporate HR to concentrate on working, coaching and campaigning around mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

The reasons were very much personal from my own experiences, but also from the perspective of an HR leader and as a line manager for the past 20 years, and as a friend and colleague in and outside of work.

I’m now on a mission to ensure that representatives from every HR, legal, and people advisory team in my network are trained and developed as MHFA mental health first aiders, and to talk about the importance of having these skills and this knowledge when presented with and managing colleagues, friends and family who have mental health challenges or unexplained changes in behaviour. With 1/4 of the population suffering in any 12 month period this is something that’s very important to all of us.

I’ll be donating a percentage of fees for this work in support of the Samaritans as an organisation that helps many people survive the darkest of times. I’ll be checking in over the coming weeks, however if you get there first and haven’t already got access to an MHFA instructor please get in touch.

Steve
